In mid July Tim was invited by the Red Bull Storm Chase team to shoot the world’s best wind

surfers. The event took place in cyclonic conditions in a town called Marrawha on the north west tip of Tasmania. The weather was nothing short of wild, Winter or woolie but it was just what was needed for great wind surfing conditions. These athletes look for extreme conditions!

The night before the contest began winds outside were up to 175 km/h, that’s category 3 cyclone conditions.

“The weather was incredible” said Tim, “I wish I could have got footage but you couldn’t get the door open to get outside!”

Throughout the event winds are required to be onshore for the wind surfers to get enough air under them to boost up over the lip of the wave and get crazy leaps using the sail.
