The New York Surf Film Festival was held on October 17th and Immersion the Movie was an Official Selection for the event. The judges were from all over the world which held off the results until today when it was announced that Tim Bonython’s, Immersion the Movie was awarded 2013 Best Feature Film Award AND the Best Cinematography Award.
Tim says, “I am so happy to win the 2 awards and that my work has been noticed, although I still feel that I have a lot more work to do. Firstly I want to improve as a cinema photographer and refine my editing skills.”
“The more you like what you do, the better you become. I suppose the last 10 years have accumulated into this win with Immersion. The benefits of winning such awards mean there is now a bar set for each of my future films so I am in the process of creating something outside the bubble, hopefully it will be embraced by a larger scale audience.”
“In the last month I’ve given the opportunity to be an Ambassador to Sony Australia, promoting their new range of 4 K Cameras starting off with the F5. With this my images and footage will be at the highest quality ever and I’m really excited to see where this technology can take me and my films.”
Tim Bonython Productions Managing Director, Sandrine Bonython says, “Immersion is giving a different approach and style to surf movies – its length, its content and variety of stories – the public adore the film while the corporate distribution industry can’t see any value in it yet.”
She adds, “At Tim Bonython Productions we continue to create our films to share the passion and beauty of the ocean with our viewers. I am very pleased that the NYFF panel of judges have recognised Tim’s works with these 2 awards.”
